Outlook Permissions Add-in
This free add-in for Microsoft Outlook lets you control exactly which file attachments
are accessible
within Microsoft Outlook.
By default, Outlook enforces two file attachment security levels. Files belonging to the first level group are blocked and cannot be viewed or programmatically accessed by the recipient. This means that if a user tries to send a message programmatically that contains such a file, Outlook warns that recipients may be unable to view the attachments. There is no way to avoid this warning, even with customized security settings.
E-mail messages containing Level 2 file attachments prompt Outlook to ask users to save the file attachment to their hard disks. These attachments cannot be opened directly within Outlook. If you use Outlook in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange Server, your network administrator can add and remove specific Level 1 and Level 2 file extensions.
Service Pack 3 for Outlook 2000 enables the user to modify these settings in the same manner that has been possible with Outlook 2002 and 2003.
The Outlook Permissions Add-in allows you to move file-types from a Level 1 setting to a Level 2 setting so that you can interact with blocked files within the Outlook application.
To use the application, simply download and run the setup. Start Outlook and select Options from the Tools menu. You will see a new tab labeled File Restrictions (shown below). Use this interface to add or remove file types from the Level 2 group.

Please note: The Outlook Permission Add-in is provided for download at no charge, but is not supported by The MRH Technology Group. Although the Add-in is used by thousands of satisfied users world-wide, it may not work for every installation of Microsoft Outlook. The stability of the Add-in is largely dependent on the version of Outlook and the service packs that have been applied, as well as other add-ins that have been installed on your system.
